Panthers Shut Out by Jaguars in Week 17 Showdown

The Carolina Panthers' season woes continued as they were shut out by the Jacksonville Jaguars, ending the game with a score of 26-0. The Panthers now stand at 2-14, while the Jaguars improved their record to 9-7.

In a challenging matchup at EverBank Stadium, the Carolina Panthers struggled to find their rhythm against a formidable Jacksonville defense. The Panthers' offense was unable to put points on the board, finishing with zero touchdowns and failing to convert any field goal attempts. Their passing game was stifled by six sacks and an interception that contributed to a low quarterback rating of just over fifty-three.

The running game offered little reprieve for the Panthers, accumulating only fifty-seven yards across fifteen attempts. Despite an average of four yards per carry and thirty-nine yards after contact, it wasn't enough to sustain drives or produce scoring opportunities. The team's third-down efficiency stood at roughly eight percent with just one success in thirteen attempts.

Defensively, Carolina managed three sacks totaling sixteen lost yards for Jacksonville and forced two three-and-outs but could not capitalize on these moments. The defense also recorded two passes defended but failed to secure any interceptions or fumble recoveries throughout the contest.

Special teams saw some activity from the Panthers with punts totaling nearly three hundred yards; however, only one punt landed inside Jacksonville's twenty-yard line. On returns, they managed seventeen return yards on punts but did not make significant headway in changing field position or momentum.

As fans look ahead after this tough loss, attention turns toward future matchups where improvements can be made both offensively and defensively.

The next opportunity for redemption comes against division rivals Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on January 7th at 1:00 PM local time (6:00 PM GMT). Fans can catch all the action live as it will be broadcasted on FOX network channels.
