Colts Stumble at MetLife Stadium Against Giants in Week 17 Showdown

The Indianapolis Colts faced a tough challenge at MetLife Stadium, ending the game with a 10-38 loss against the New York Giants. The Colts' season record now stands at 4-12-1, while the Giants improved to 9-7-1.

In East Rutherford, before an audience of 77,399 fans, the Indianapolis Colts struggled to find their rhythm against a dominant New York Giants team. The Colts managed to accumulate a total of 252 yards but were hindered by seven penalties costing them 60 yards. Despite these setbacks, they maintained possession for nearly half the game.

The Colts' passing game saw them complete 17 out of 27 attempts for a total of 141 yards. Their longest pass was an impressive gain of 49 yards; however, they only managed one touchdown through the air and suffered one interception that was returned for another touchdown by their opponents. The quarterback's rating stood at a modest 73 and he was sacked twice during play.

On the ground, Indianapolis rushed for an average of nearly five yards per carry with their longest rush reaching just twelve yards. They ended up with zero rushing touchdowns and five first downs from running plays out of their total fourteen first downs.

Special teams had mixed results; while kick returns yielded an average of almost twenty-nine yards over four attempts with one reaching thirty-six yards long, punt returns did not add any yardage to their cause. Field goal attempts were split even with one successful kick from within twenty-nine yards and another missed from beyond forty-nine.

Defensively speaking, there were bright spots as well as areas needing improvement for the Colts. They forced one fumble which they recovered themselves but failed to record any sacks or interceptions throughout the contest. Their defense made sixty combined tackles including four tackles for loss totaling eight negative yardage against New York's offense.

Looking ahead after this challenging encounter on January first at six o'clock PM UTC time zone (1 PM Eastern Time), fans can catch the next Indianapolis Colts game when they host Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on January eighth broadcasted on CBS network channels. This upcoming match will provide another opportunity for redemption as they seek to improve upon this week's performance in front of their home crowd.
