Chargers Clash with Saints at SoFi Stadium in Week 2 Preseason Game

The Los Angeles Chargers faced a challenging game against the New Orleans Saints, concluding with a score of 22-17. The Chargers now stand at 0-1-0 for the preseason, while the Saints advance to 1-0-0.

In front of a crowd of 64,455 at SoFi Stadium, the Los Angeles Chargers demonstrated resilience despite falling short against the visiting New Orleans Saints. The home team's defense managed to sack the opposing quarterback twice and recorded five hits on him. They also forced four three-and-outs during the game but were unable to secure any interceptions or fumble recoveries.

The Chargers' punting unit was active throughout, averaging nearly 51 yards across five attempts and successfully pinning one inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Their special teams contributed significantly with kick returns totaling 92 yards over four instances, including a long return of 29 yards.

On offense, Los Angeles' passing game struggled to find its rhythm as their quarterback was sacked five times and threw two interceptions. Despite these setbacks, he completed over half his passes for an average gain of about four yards per attempt and achieved ten first downs through air attacks. The rushing offense proved more effective by scoring both touchdowns for the team and averaging over five yards per carry on their way to six first downs.

Penalties were relatively low for both teams; however, they did impact possession as each side incurred five penalties throughout playtime. On third down conversions though, efficiency waned with only three successes out of fifteen attempts for Los Angeles.

One bright spot was in red zone efficiency where they scored on two out of three opportunities thanks to their ground attack which also secured success in both goal-to-go situations they faced during this encounter.

As fans look forward to future games hoping for improved outcomes from their beloved team – attention turns towards an upcoming match-up that will see the Los Angeles Chargers travel northward to face off against San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on August 26th at (7:00 PM PT). This preseason contest will be broadcasted live on NFL Network for fans eager to follow every play as it unfolds.
