Did Seattle Seahawks' Defense Seal the Victory Over Pittsburgh Steelers?

The Seattle Seahawks improved their record to 1-1 after a decisive 31-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, who also now stand at 1-1. The game, held at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, showcased a strong performance from both teams but ultimately saw the Hawks come out on top.

First Quarter

The opening quarter set the tone for an intense matchup. The Seahawks' defense was quick to make an impact with Byron Murphy leading with 1.5 sacks and contributing significantly to halting the Steel Curtain's offensive drives. Meanwhile, Kenneth Walker made his presence felt early on with a rushing touchdown that put Seattle ahead.

Second Quarter

As the second quarter unfolded, Sam Darnold demonstrated his passing prowess by connecting with AJ Barner for one of his two touchdown passes of the day. Barner's ability to find space and secure crucial first downs was instrumental in maintaining offensive momentum for Seattle.

Third Quarter

In a pivotal third quarter, Jaxon Smith-Njigba emerged as a key target for Darnold, amassing over 100 receiving yards and consistently moving the chains against Pittsburgh’s secondary. The Black and Gold struggled to contain him as he helped extend drives that kept their defense on the field longer than they would have liked.

Fourth Quarter

The final period saw game-changing plays from both sides but it was Coby Bryant’s interception that truly shifted momentum back in favor of Seattle. This turnover thwarted any hopes of a late comeback by Pittsburgh and allowed Jason Myers to seal it with a field goal attempt from beyond 50 yards—his longest successful kick of this match-up.
