Anaheim Ducks Outflanked by Tampa Bay Lightning's Powerplay at Amalie Arena

The Anaheim Ducks faced a challenging contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning, concluding with a 1-5 defeat. The Ducks' season record now stands at 20-17-8, while the Lightning improved to 30-15-4. Despite a valiant effort, the Ducks were unable to secure more than one goal against their opponents.

At Amalie Arena, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, fans witnessed an intense battle on ice where powerplays and penalty kills played a significant role in determining the outcome of the game. The Anaheim Ducks managed to deliver 37 hits throughout the game but struggled to convert their efforts into points on the scoreboard. Their sole goal came during a powerplay in the second period which was also their only successful shot out of three opportunities during powerplays.


The team's goaltender made an impressive total of 36 saves with a save percentage rounding up to 100 percent; however, this was not enough to stave off five goals by Tampa Bay. The defense blocked 11 shots and fought hard in faceoffs with an even win percentage at fifty percent.

On offense, Anaheim took twenty shots but found success only once, translating into a shooting percentage of five percent. They also had two assists contributing to their three points scored during this encounter. Unfortunately for them, they gave away possession seven times and served ten penalty minutes over five infractions.


Tampa Bay Lightning showcased strong gameplay with eleven takeaways and eight assists leading up to thirteen points scored by them overall. They capitalized on their powerplay chances scoring three goals out of six shots when they had more players on ice due to penalties against Anaheim.

As fans look ahead after this tough loss for Anaheim Ducks, attention turns towards their next challenge which will be away from home once again as they face off against Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on January 15th at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
