From the initial puck drop at Scotiabank Arena, it was clear that the home team had come to play. The Toronto Maple Leafs established dominance early on with four goals in the opening period and continued their scoring spree with another four in the second. The Ducks managed to find the back of the net once in each of these periods but struggled to keep pace with their opponents' relentless attack.

Anaheim's performance was marked by resilience despite being outplayed. They registered a total of 21 shots on goal and converted one into a powerplay goal out of three opportunities, showcasing a perfect faceoff win percentage during powerplays. However, they fell short in even-strength situations where they scored only once from 18 shots and won just 42 percent of faceoffs.

Their penalty kill unit could not contain Toronto's powerplay which capitalized four times from five chances.

The Maple Leafs displayed superior offensive capabilities with nine goals scored from thirty-two shots taken – an impressive shooting percentage compared to Anaheim's ten percent success rate – and seventeen assists contributing to their total points tally for this game which stood at twenty-six points overall.
