Game Highlights

The match at Amerant Bank Arena was closely contested in terms of shots on goal, with the Ducks taking 34 shots compared to the Panthers' 45. Despite this effort, none found the back of the net for Anaheim. The Panthers capitalized on their opportunities, scoring once in the second period and twice more in the third. The final goal was an empty-netter that sealed their victory.

Anaheim's goaltender John Gibson put up a valiant effort with an impressive save percentage of 100 percent from 42 saves out of 44 shots against him before Florida scored their third goal into an empty net. However, his performance wasn't enough to secure a win for his team.

On offense and defense alike, both teams were aggressive but disciplined; Anaheim incurred only two penalties throughout the game while Florida had three. Despite having power play opportunities—two for each team—neither side managed to score during these advantages.

Player Performances

Among individual performances for Anaheim Ducks, Frank Vatrano led with nine shots on goal but couldn't convert any into points. Jackson LaCombe also stood out defensively with five shots and one hit over nearly twenty-five minutes on ice but similarly failed to contribute points-wise due to Florida's tight defense and goaltending by Spencer Knight who achieved a shutout.

The physical aspect of hockey was evident as hits were exchanged throughout; Radko Gudas contributed two hits alongside his defensive duties which included three shot attempts. Meanwhile young players like Cutter Gauthier showed promise by maintaining an active presence during his time on ice despite not adding any points.

Looking Ahead

As they look forward from this defeat, Anaheim Ducks will have another chance to prove themselves when they host Florida Panthers at Honda Center on January 21st at 10:00 PM EDT. Fans can catch all action live through various broadcasts including ESPN+ and KCOP-TV among others ensuring no one misses out as these teams face off once again.
