Anaheim Ducks' Powerplay Push Falls Short Against Tampa Bay Lightning

The Anaheim Ducks faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Honda Center, ending in a 4-3 overtime defeat. The Ducks now hold a record of 21-16-3, while the Lightning improved to 23-13-3.

First Period


The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was the Bolts who struck first. Despite several attempts by the Mighty Ducks to equalize, they were unable to find the back of the net. The period ended with Tampa Bay leading by one goal.


Second Period


In an effort to turn things around, Anaheim's powerplay unit stepped up in the second period. Mason McTavish capitalized on a powerplay opportunity, leveling the score and energizing his team. However, Tampa Bay responded swiftly with another goal during even strength play, regaining their lead.

Third Period


The third period witnessed an intense battle as both teams exchanged goals. Beckett Sennecke added another for Anaheim with a well-timed shot that brought them back into contention. Yet again, Tampa managed to edge ahead with Brayden Point contributing significantly for his team.


Overtime


As overtime commenced, tension filled Honda Center as fans hoped for a comeback from their home team. Unfortunately for Anaheim supporters, it was not meant to be; Brayden Point delivered once more for Tampa Bay securing victory in extra time.
