Coyotes Set to Howl in Vancouver Showdown at Rogers Arena

As the Arizona Coyotes prepare to face off against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena, fans are cautiously optimistic about their team's chances. The Coyotes have shown a remarkable ability to bounce back from adversity, and this upcoming game on January 19 is no exception.

Looking back at the Coyotes' recent performance against the Calgary Flames on January 17, it was a nail-biter that ended in an overtime loss with a final score of 2-3. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways for ARI. They managed to keep their scoring consistent across periods two and three and demonstrated resilience by pushing the game into overtime. Their goaltending was solid with a save percentage of 100 percent during regulation time, only conceding goals during shorthanded plays and overtime.

However, one area where ARI struggled was in faceoff wins—only securing 41 percent overall. This is an aspect they must improve upon if they want better control of the puck against VAN.

In stark contrast stands their dominant performance on January 14 against Minnesota Wild where they shut them out with an impressive scoreline of 6-0. The Coyotes' offense was firing on all cylinders that night; not only did they rack up six goals but also maintained an exceptional shooting percentage of 18 percent while their goaltender saved all shots faced.

The key difference between these games lies in powerplay execution and defensive solidity—both areas where ARI has shown both strength and weakness recently.

Against VAN, it will be crucial for ARI to capitalize on powerplay opportunities as they did against MIN rather than falter as seen versus CGY. The Canucks are known for their aggressive play which could lead to penalties; thus creating chances for ARI’s powerplay unit which had previously boasted a success rate of two goals from three opportunities (66 percent) during their triumph over MIN.

Defensively speaking, blocking shots will be vital as well; something that Arizona excelled at with eighteen blocks in the same victory but seemed less focused on during their tight encounter with CGY where only twelve blocks were recorded.

The upcoming match promises excitement as both teams have dynamic players who can turn the tide at any moment. While VAN will have home advantage and likely come out strong trying to capitalize early on any signs of weakness from Arizona's side especially after witnessing some defensive lapses in recent games by ARI.

Fans should mark their calendars for what could be one of the more intriguing matchups this season: January 19th at Rogers Arena starting at 7:00 PM local time (10:00 PM EST). For those unable to attend in person, broadcasting options include ESPN+ online or SCRIPPS TV network catering specifically to away fans looking forward to cheering on Arizona Coyotes from afar.
