Coyotes Set to Tangle with Wild in Tempe Showdown

As the Arizona Coyotes prepare to face off against the Minnesota Wild at Mullett Arena, fans are looking for signs of hope after a series of challenging games. The Coyotes have shown resilience and an ability to bounce back, which will be crucial as they go up against a formidable opponent.

In their last encounter with the Winnipeg Jets on February 25th, the Coyotes displayed a balanced attack but fell short in overtime, scoring 3 goals on 32 shots. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways from their performance. The team's physicality was evident with 30 hits and they managed to block an impressive 17 shots. However, one area that needs improvement is faceoffs; winning only 46 percent indicates room for growth in puck possession.

The powerplay unit showed promise by capitalizing once out of two opportunities. This efficiency must carry over into their next game if they wish to tilt the ice in their favor against Minnesota.

Looking at another recent game on February 22nd against the Toronto Maple Leafs at home turf Mullett Arena, Arizona again scored three times but allowed six goals. While they demonstrated grit with 35 hits and blocked 13 shots, it wasn't enough to secure victory. Their powerplay contributed one goal from three chances – maintaining this level of special teams play could be key against Minnesota.

The matchup with Edmonton Oilers on February 19th highlighted areas that need tightening up defensively as Arizona conceded six goals while scoring three themselves. They were outplayed in faceoffs and gave away too much space allowing Edmonton a shooting percentage of 23 percent.

Against Minnesota Wild, it's imperative that Arizona focuses on puck control right from the drop of the puck and tightens up defensively around their netminder who has been facing high-quality chances too often lately.

Fans can expect an intense battle where every shift counts as both teams vie for dominance on March 7th at Mullett Arena starting at 9:00 PM local time (11:00 PM EST). With ESPN+, SCRIPPS, BSWI, and BSNX broadcasting live coverage of this thrilling encounter between these Western Conference rivals – it’s a game not to be missed by any hockey enthusiast!
