First Period

The game began with promise for the Bruins as David Pastrnak found the back of the net early on, giving his team an initial advantage. This goal was assisted by Morgan Geekie, showcasing their effective collaboration on ice. Despite this early lead and a strong faceoff performance with a win percentage of 58 percent, Boston struggled to capitalize further in this period.

Second Period

The second period marked a significant shift in momentum as the Sabres responded vigorously. They scored three goals during this segment, turning the tide decisively in their favor. The Blue and Gold's offensive prowess was evident as they outshot Boston significantly and took control of faceoffs at crucial moments.

Third Period

In the final period, both teams battled intensely but only Buffalo managed to add another goal to their tally. The B’s defense held firm for most parts but couldn't prevent an empty-net goal that sealed their fate. Joonas Korpisalo made commendable efforts between the pipes with 30 saves overall; however, it wasn't enough to thwart Buffalo's relentless attack.

Despite maintaining pressure throughout and achieving more hits than their opponents (27 compared to Buffalo's 18), Boston couldn't convert these into scoring opportunities effectively during power plays or even strength situations.
