The Sabres have been showing promising signs of improvement and consistency. Looking back at their recent performance on October 21 against the New York Islanders, they secured a win with a score of 3-1. Their offensive play was impressive, with a shooting percentage of 7 percent and winning goals that demonstrated their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The goaltending was also noteworthy; with a save percentage of 96 percent, it's clear that the netminding has been reliable.

However, it wasn't just about scoring; the Sabres' defensive game was equally strong. They blocked 13 shots and won an impressive 68 percent of faceoffs, which played a crucial role in controlling the game's pace and possession.

On October 19 against the Calgary Flames, despite suffering a loss with four goals conceded on even strength play, there were still positive takeaways for Buffalo. They managed to maintain an effective powerplay unit that scored once out of five opportunities while also blocking twelve shots defensively.

The Canadiens will certainly not make things easy for Buffalo. They bring their own set of skills to this matchup which could pose challenges for the Sabres' defense and goaltending units.

As we approach this encounter between these two teams at KeyBank Center, all eyes will be on whether Buffalo can continue its upward trajectory or if Montreal will disrupt their rhythm. The key factors likely to determine this game's outcome include special teams' effectiveness and goaltender performance – areas where Buffalo has shown both strengths and vulnerabilities in recent games.

Sabres fans should mark their calendars for what promises to be an exciting match-up under the bright lights in Buffalo on October 23rd at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (ET).
