From the opening faceoff at KeyBank Center, it was clear that the Buffalo Sabres were on a mission. The home team opened up scoring in the first period and continued to build momentum as they netted two more goals in the second period. By the third period, they had taken full control of the game, adding four additional goals to seal a commanding win over their opponents.

The Sabres' offense was firing on all cylinders with seven goals scored on 35 shots, reflecting an outstanding shooting percentage of 20 percent for Buffalo. Their powerplay unit capitalized on its single opportunity with efficiency and precision. Meanwhile, even strength play saw them score four times from 32 shots.

Defensively, Buffalo's goaltending was nearly impenetrable as they turned away 22 out of 24 shots from Vegas. This defensive solidity contributed significantly to maintaining their lead throughout each period.

Special teams played a pivotal role for both sides; however, it was particularly noteworthy for Buffalo who managed two shorthanded goals from just two shots while down a player – an exceptional display of both opportunism and skill under pressure.
