Buffalo Sabres Eye Victory in Flames' Territory at Scotiabank Saddledome

The Buffalo Sabres are gearing up for a pivotal showdown against the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Sabres, coming off a mixed bag of recent performances, are looking to assert their dominance on foreign ice.

In their last encounter on March 13, 2024, the Sabres showcased an offensive masterclass with a 7-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Their firepower was evident as they peppered the opposition with 39 shots and capitalized with an impressive shooting percentage of 18 percent. The team's ability to convert chances into goals will be crucial against a Calgary team that is known for its resilience.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for BUF; despite their scoring prowess, they struggled in faceoff circles winning only 44 percent of draws and were out-hit by Detroit who registered a total of 40 hits. These stats highlight areas where BUF must improve if they want to maintain control throughout their next game.

The defensive aspect also requires attention. In their March 9 matchup against the Edmonton Oilers, although emerging victorious in a shootout after a nail-biting finish tied at two apiece in regulation time, BUF allowed too many giveaways (16) which could have been costly on another day.

Moreover, goaltending has been solid but not without its lapses. In their loss to Nashville Predators on March 8th where they were edged out by just two points (4-2), goaltending was decent with a save percentage rounding up to an even hundred percent but still conceded four goals.

As we look towards this upcoming clash with CGY, it's clear that while Buffalo's offense can be explosive and game-winning goaltending is present; consistency across all facets of play is needed for success away from home ice.

For CGY fans watching closely, it will be interesting to see how they respond after being bested by Buffalo earlier this month. With home advantage and likely adjustments made since then, expect them to come out strong seeking redemption.

Sabres supporters should mark their calendars for March 24th when these two teams face off once again at Scotiabank Saddledome. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 PM EDT and fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+ or MSG-B network.
