Will the Calgary Flames Blaze Past the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center?

As the Calgary Flames prepare to face off against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center, fans are eager to see if their team can carry forward their recent momentum. The upcoming game on January 7th is poised to be a pivotal moment for the Flames, who have shown both resilience and areas for improvement in their past performances.

In their last game against the Philadelphia Flyers on January 6th, despite a shorthanded strength, the Flames managed two goals but ultimately fell short with a final score of 2-3. Their goaltending was solid with an impressive save percentage of 100 percent; however, they allowed three goals against 42 shots. The powerplay opportunities didn't translate into goals as they would have hoped, and this is an area that needs attention before facing Chicago.

The previous encounter with Nashville Predators on January 5th showcased a more dominant side of CGY as they secured a convincing win with six points to three. Their even-strength performance was particularly strong – netting five out of six goals during regular play. This level of efficiency in scoring will be crucial when going up against CHI's defense.

CGY's game on January 3rd versus Minnesota Wild also ended favorably for them with three points to one. They demonstrated an ability to capitalize on even-strength situations once again and showed tenacity by securing an empty-net goal which sealed their victory.

Looking ahead at CHI's home advantage at United Center could pose challenges for CGY; however, given CGY’s recent form and ability to adapt under pressure – especially in even-strength scenarios – there is reason for optimism among fans. The key will be converting powerplay opportunities while maintaining defensive solidity that has been evident in past games.

The Blackhawks should not be underestimated though; any home team comes with its set of advantages including crowd support and familiarity with playing conditions. It will be essential for CGY’s goaltenders to replicate past performances and continue being the last line of defense effectively.

As we approach game day, it becomes increasingly clear that while CGY has areas needing refinement – particularly special teams play – their overall trajectory suggests they are more than capable of overcoming these hurdles when they step onto the ice at United Center.

Fans looking forward to witnessing whether CGY can extend their winning ways or if CHI will defend their home turf can catch all action live on ESPN+ or NBCS-CHI channel 665 starting at 8:00 PM local time (Chicago) on Sunday, January 7th.
