From the initial puck drop, the Calgary Flames showed their intent with an explosive first period, netting four goals that set the tone for the rest of the game. Their offensive onslaught was complemented by a solid defensive effort that limited their opponents to just one goal in that period. The second period saw no additional scoring from Calgary but maintained pressure and control over the game flow.

The third period allowed Calgary to further cement their lead with two more goals, showcasing their depth and ability to perform under pressure. Notably, one of these goals came shorthanded, highlighting both tactical discipline and opportunistic playmaking. In total, they fired off 30 shots on goal throughout the match.

Calgary's goaltender delivered an exceptional performance between the pipes by saving all but two of Arizona's 34 shots on goal – a save percentage rounded up to an impeccable hundred percent for this encounter. This defensive prowess was critical in keeping Arizona at bay and securing victory for Calgary.

On special teams play, Calgary capitalized on one out of three powerplay opportunities while also demonstrating strong penalty-killing capabilities by not conceding any powerplay goals against them despite facing four penalties throughout the game.

In terms of physicality and puck possession metrics, Calgary recorded 19 hits and won over half (59 percent) of faceoffs which contributed significantly to controlling gameplay tempo. They also blocked an impressive number of shots (27), further frustrating Arizona's attempts at mounting any significant challenge.
