The game at Scotiabank Saddledome saw neither team able to break through in the first period. The deadlock was finally broken in the second period when Arizona managed to slip one past Calgary's goaltender. However, it was during the third period that fans witnessed an impressive display from their home team as they scored twice to push back against their opponents.

Calgary's powerplay unit proved decisive; they capitalized on one of their five opportunities which came during an advantageous 4-on-3 situation. This goal was part of a total offensive effort that saw them take 30 shots on goal and successfully win 59 percent of faceoffs throughout the game. Their shooting accuracy stood at ten percent by night's end.

Defensively, Calgary was just as robust. They blocked 17 shots and recorded six takeaways while limiting Arizona's powerplay chances to zero goals from three opportunities. The Flames' goaltender made crucial saves throughout regulation and overtime, stopping all but two of Arizona's attempts for an impressive save percentage rounding up to one hundred percent.

Arizona put forth a valiant effort despite being shorthanded for much of the game due to penalties totaling twelve minutes. Their goalie faced down thirty shots and managed twenty-seven saves before conceding in overtime for an overtime loss credit.

As fans left Scotiabank Saddledome after witnessing their team secure another win in front of seventeen thousand four hundred seven attendees, anticipation began building for what lies ahead.

Looking forward, Calgary will host Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Saddledome on January 19th at 7:00 PM local time (9:00 PM EST). Fans unable to attend can catch all action live as it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
