Can the Flames Keep the Heat on Against the Kraken?

As the Calgary Flames prepare to host the Seattle Kraken at Scotiabank Saddledome, fans are eager to see if their team can continue its recent performance trends. The Flames have shown a mix of results in their last few games, with a thrilling overtime win against Boston Bruins, an impressive victory over Winnipeg Jets, and a tough shutout loss to Detroit Red Wings.

The game against Boston highlighted Calgary's resilience, pulling off a 3-2 win with two goals in the first period and clinching it in overtime. Their goaltending was solid with a save percentage rounding up to 100 percent. However, they struggled on faceoffs with only 47 percent won and will need to improve that aspect of their game.

Against Winnipeg Jets, Calgary showcased their offensive prowess by netting six goals and winning by a significant margin of 6-3. Their shooting percentage was an impressive 18 percent that night. Despite this strong showing offensively, faceoff performance remained below par at just 40 percent.

The matchup with Detroit Red Wings exposed some weaknesses as Calgary failed to score despite taking 38 shots on goal. They also conceded five goals while maintaining possession for less than half of faceoffs at 41 percent.

Looking ahead to facing Seattle Kraken, Calgary needs to capitalize on their home ice advantage where they've had mixed fortunes but have shown they can be formidable opponents when all elements click together.

Fans should expect an intense battle as both teams vie for crucial points this season. Special teams could play a significant role; thus powerplay efficiency and penalty killing will be under scrutiny.

Mark your calendars for March 5th at Scotiabank Saddledome where you can catch all the action live starting from 02:30 AM UTC on ESPN+ online or ROOT Sports NW for television viewers.
