The Flames fought back valiantly, scoring once in the second period and again in the third to narrow down their deficit. Despite their efforts and outshooting Carolina 32 to 43, Calgary couldn't overcome Carolina's lead. The Hurricanes sealed their victory with an empty-net goal towards the end of the third period.
