Game Highlights

The Flames showed resilience throughout the game, managing to even out play at times despite falling behind early. The first period ended without any goals from Calgary, but they bounced back in the second and third periods with one goal each. Their efforts were highlighted by their powerplay performance where they capitalized once out of two opportunities. Despite their attempts to rally back into the game, including 29 shots on goal and maintaining a faceoff win percentage of 50 percent across all periods, it wasn't enough to secure victory.

On defense, Calgary was aggressive yet disciplined; they blocked ten shots and delivered twenty-eight hits over the course of the game. However, giveaways proved costly for them as they surrendered possession thirty-five times which contributed to their challenges on ice.

Star Performances

Blake Coleman and Nazem Kadri were standout performers for Calgary. Coleman found the net once from his two shots on goal showcasing his efficiency and sharpshooting skills during critical moments of play. Kadri also scored one goal from two attempts further emphasizing Calgary's offensive efforts despite facing stiff resistance from Columbus's defense.

In net for Calgary was Dustin Wolf who faced thirty-three shots throughout the night making twenty-nine saves which included crucial stops during powerplays and shorthanded situations keeping his team within reach until an empty-netter widened the gap late in regulation time.
