Game Highlights

The game was characterized by intense defensive play from both sides. The Flames put up a valiant effort, launching 31 shots towards the Golden Knights' goal but were stonewalled by Ilya Samsonov's impeccable goaltending. Samsonov emerged as one of the stars of the game, saving all 31 shots and contributing significantly to his team's shutout victory.

On offense, despite numerous attempts including seven powerplay shots across four opportunities, the Flames could not find their way past Vegas's defense. Their powerplay efforts yielded no goals, reflecting on their struggle to capitalize on opportunities throughout this matchup.

Conversely, the Golden Knights managed to break through with three goals from their total of 37 shots. Their success included capitalizing on one out of four powerplay opportunities which contributed to their lead in the second period and set them on a path for victory.

Player Performances

Amongst individual performances for the Flames, Blake Coleman led with six shots attempting to penetrate Vegas’s defense but without success. Mikael Backlund and Nazem Kadri also showed significant effort each with five shots towards goal yet remained unable to convert these into points.

Defensively for Calgary Flames Dan Vladar had an active night between the pipes making 34 saves out of 36 shots at even strength but ultimately conceding two goals before an empty-netter sealed their fate in this contest.
