Game Highlights

The game started off slow for the Flames with no goals in the first period but quickly picked up pace in the second and third periods where they scored two goals in each, totaling four goals against the Ducks. The Ducks managed to score once in the first period but were unable to find the back of the net for the rest of the game. The Flames' goaltender played an exceptional role, saving 30 out of 31 shots, which was pivotal in securing their win. On offense, Matt Coronato stood out by scoring two goals and assisting on another, proving to be a key player for Calgary.

Adam Klapka also made notable contributions with one goal and demonstrating physical dominance on ice with eight hits. Blake Coleman's all-around performance included one goal and one assist alongside three hits, further emphasizing Calgary's balanced attack and defensive play.

Analyzing Team Performance

The Flames excelled not just offensively but also defensively by blocking 25 shots from reaching their netminder. Their powerplay opportunities were limited with only one chance throughout the game which they did not convert into a goal; however, this did not deter them from dominating at even strength where all four goals were scored.

On contrast, despite having more powerplay opportunities (four), Anaheim failed to capitalize on any of these chances thanks largely to Calgary's disciplined penalty kill unit and goaltending excellence. The Ducks struggled in faceoffs too winning only 40 percent compared to Flames’ impressive 60 percent success rate which contributed significantly towards controlling possession throughout this matchup.
