Calgary Flames Fall to Ottawa Senators in Shootout Drama at Canadian Tire Centre

In a tightly contested matchup, the Calgary Flames faced off against the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre. The game ended with a 4-3 shootout victory for the Senators. This result leaves Calgary with a record of 2-8-2, while Ottawa improves to 6-5-1.

First Period


The Flames started strong, scoring twice in the opening period. Yegor Sharangovich and Matt Coronato each found the back of the net during powerplay opportunities, showcasing Calgary's ability to capitalize on man advantages. Despite their efforts, Ottawa managed to respond with one goal from Lars Eller before heading into intermission.


Second Period


The second period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle as neither side was able to score. The Flames' goaltender Devin Cooley made crucial saves throughout this period, maintaining Calgary's lead and keeping their hopes alive for an away victory.

Third Period


As play resumed in the third period, Nazem Kadri added another goal for Calgary early on. However, this lead was short-lived as Tim Stutzle and his teammates rallied back for Ottawa with two goals that tied up proceedings by regulation time's end.


Overtime & Shootout


With no goals scored during overtime despite several attempts from both sides—including one shot by Rasmus Andersson—the game proceeded into an intense shootout phase where ultimately it was Ottowa who emerged victorious thanks largely due again towards stellar performances put forth especially under pressure situations such as these ones experienced here tonight!
