The home team's victory was built on a solid foundation of aggressive play and sharp shooting. The Carolina Hurricanes took control early in the game, netting two goals in the first period and adding an overwhelming four goals in the third. Their offense was relentless throughout, racking up forty-one shots with a shooting accuracy of fifteen percent.

The Hurricanes' special teams also made their mark on the game. Despite not scoring on any of their three powerplay opportunities, they managed to notch one shorthanded goal out of four attempts during penalty kills. This goal contributed to their total tally and showcased their ability to capitalize even when down a player.

Defensively, Carolina's goaltender played a pivotal role with twenty saves and an impressive save percentage of ninety-one percent over sixty minutes on ice. This performance was crucial in keeping the Canadiens' scoring efforts largely at bay.

On the other side of the rink, despite being outplayed overall, Montreal did manage to score once during one of their three powerplays from just four shots in that situation. However, they struggled to find consistency across all periods as reflected by their nine percent shooting accuracy from twenty-two shots overall.

The fans who filled PNC Arena's capacity witnessed an assertive showing by their team which culminated in this decisive win for Carolina against Montreal.
