The Hurricanes opened the scoring in the first period and maintained their lead until they were overtaken by an explosive second period from the Kings, who netted four goals. However, undeterred by this setback, Carolina responded emphatically with three goals in the third period to tie up the game. The match was eventually decided in overtime where Carolina secured their victory with an additional goal.

Carolina's offense was firing on all cylinders as they racked up five goals on thirty shots for a shooting percentage of seventeen percent. Their powerplay unit capitalized on both opportunities presented to them while their penalty kill stood firm against two shorthanded situations without conceding any goals. The faceoff circle saw Carolina win fifty-seven percent of draws which helped them maintain control throughout various phases of play.

Key players for Carolina included those responsible for nine assists and fourteen points overall that contributed to their five-goal tally. On defense, they blocked seven shots and delivered twenty-one hits to stifle Los Angeles' offensive efforts.

On the other side of ice, despite outshooting Carolina twenty-one to thirty and scoring four times including once on powerplay from just one shot taken during man advantage situations; it wasn't enough for Los Angeles Kings. They won forty-three percent of faceoffs but struggled defensively allowing five goals against while managing only sixteen hits compared to twenty-one from Hurricanes.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought victory at home; fans can catch next action when Hurricanes travel to KeyBank Center in Buffalo for an encounter with Buffalo Sabres scheduled on February 2nd at 7:30 PM Eastern Time which will be broadcasted nationally on TNT channel two hundred forty-five.
