The Hurricanes took control early on, netting two goals in the first period and adding three more in the second. The Ducks managed to slip three past Carolina's goaltender during the second period but were unable to find the back of the net again for the remainder of the game. The third period saw one additional goal from Carolina to seal their victory.

Carolina's offense was firing on all cylinders as they tallied six goals on 34 shots, boasting an impressive shooting percentage of 18 percent. Their powerplay unit capitalized once out of three opportunities while their penalty kill stood firm, allowing just one goal despite being shorthanded seven times throughout the contest.

Key players for Carolina included their top line and defensive pairing who contributed significantly to both ends of play. With eleven assists recorded by Hurricanes players, it was clear that teamwork played a pivotal role in their offensive success. Additionally, ten takeaways highlighted their defensive capabilities and ability to transition quickly into attack mode.

On special teams, while Anaheim did manage to convert once during five powerplay chances with a powerplay shooting percentage standing at 19 percent; it was not enough against Carolina's disciplined penalty kill squad which only conceded once despite facing several shorthanded situations.

Anaheim's goaltender faced an onslaught from Carolina's attackers and ended up making 28 saves but ultimately suffered a loss as his team fell short defensively with minus fifteen plus-minus rating compared to Carolina’s plus fifteen.
