Can the Carolina Hurricanes Ride the Storm Against Chicago Blackhawks at PNC Arena?

As the Carolina Hurricanes prepare to host the Chicago Blackhawks at PNC Arena, fans are eager to see if their team can maintain their recent momentum. The upcoming clash on February 20th is poised to be a pivotal moment in the Hurricanes' season.

The Hurricanes have shown they can be a force when playing with even strength, as demonstrated in their last game against the Vegas Golden Knights on December 20th. They netted an impressive six goals from 39 shots, translating to a shooting percentage of 15 percent. Their powerplay was particularly lethal, capitalizing on all three opportunities – an efficiency that could prove crucial against Chicago.

However, it's not just about offense; goaltending has been solid for Carolina as well. In that same game versus Vegas, they allowed only three goals from 33 shots – a save percentage standing at a perfect 100 percent. This defensive resilience will need to continue if they're to suppress Chicago's attack.

On December 24th against New York Islanders, despite falling short by one point in a high-scoring affair where both teams combined for nine goals, there were positive takeaways for Carolina. They showed character by rallying back with two third-period goals but ultimately lost with five points conceded from only four saves missed out of total shots faced.

One area of concern might be faceoffs; during their encounter with Vegas Golden Knights and New York Islanders, faceoff win percentages were below par at just around half successful attempts. Winning puck possession off draws will be critical against Chicago Blackhawks who may look to exploit any weakness in this department.

The Blackhawks are coming into this match-up after facing off against other opponents and will aim to disrupt the home advantage that PNC Arena provides for Carolina. It’s essential for fans not only focus on scoring prowess but also appreciate how special teams play and goaltending contribute significantly towards securing wins.

Looking ahead at what promises to be an electrifying match-up between these two teams: Will we witness another offensive showcase or will goaltenders steal the spotlight? The answer lies within how well-rounded each team's performance pans out come game night.

Fans should mark their calendars for February 20th when these two teams collide under Raleigh’s roof where puck drop is scheduled after sunset local time (exact time TBD). For those unable to attend in person can catch all action live through ESPN+ nationally or tune into NBCS-CHI channel number 665 away broadcasts and BSSO channel number 646-1 home broadcasts respectively.
