However, it was in the third period that the Hurricanes truly shone, netting two additional goals to secure their victory. The Hurricanes also demonstrated superior puck control throughout the match. They won fifty-nine percent of faceoffs and blocked thirteen shots from reaching their netminder, who saved thirty-three out of thirty-four shots—a save percentage rounding up to one hundred percent. This defensive prowess was complemented by an effective offense that saw six assists contributing to three goals scored.

The powerplay unit for Carolina capitalized on one out of three opportunities thanks to precise execution during their four minutes and twelve seconds with an advantage. Conversely, New York failed to convert during any of its two powerplay chances within nearly four minutes.


Carolina's goaltender deserves special mention for his outstanding performance between the pipes, allowing only one goal against him throughout sixty minutes on ice—further testament to his skill and concentration under pressure.
