First Period


The opening period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, with neither side managing to find the back of the net. The Hurricanes displayed solid defense, blocking numerous attempts from the Caps and maintaining pressure on their opponents.


Second Period


In the second period, Carolina's offense began to click as they broke through with a goal. Nikolaj Ehlers was instrumental in this effort, contributing an assist that set up Logan Stankoven for his first goal of the night. Third Period


The third period witnessed both teams trading goals. The Capitals managed to equalize early on before Ehlers once again made his presence felt by scoring for Carolina. However, Washington responded quickly with another goal from Connor McMichael, leveling the score and setting up an intense finish.


Overtime & Shootout


Despite several close calls during overtime, neither team could secure victory within regulation time or overtime play. It was Brandon Bussi's stellar performance as goaltender that kept Carolina alive through these tense moments.
