First Period

The opening period saw the Flyers take an early lead with two goals, setting an aggressive pace. Despite several attempts from the Canes, they were unable to find the back of the net during this period. The Hurricanes struggled with giveaways, recording 13 throughout the game.

Second Period

Carolina responded strongly in the second period with two goals of their own to level things up. Shayne Gostisbehere played a pivotal role by assisting on both goals, showcasing his playmaking abilities from defense. The Canes' even-strength performance was notable as they managed all three of their regulation-time goals without powerplay assistance.

Third Period

In a tense third period, both teams added one goal each to keep things tied at 3-3 by regulation's end. Jackson Blake emerged as a key player for Carolina with his decisive contributions earning him first star honors.

Overtime and Shootout

Neither team could break through during overtime despite some close calls and solid goaltending on both ends. In the shootout phase, it was Blake again who delivered for Carolina by scoring one of their crucial shootout goals while Pyotr Kochetkov stood firm in goal saving all four shots he faced from Philadelphia shooters.
