First Period

The game kicked off with an explosive start from the Pens, who quickly established their dominance. The first period saw Pittsburgh netting three goals, setting a formidable pace that left the Canes struggling to keep up. Despite Frederik Andersen's efforts in goal for Carolina, saving 23 shots throughout the game, he couldn't hold back the early onslaught from Pittsburgh.

Second Period

In the second period, Carolina attempted to regain control and managed to score their only goal of the match through Mark Jankowski. His precise shot was assisted by Mike Reilly and Joel Nystrom. However, this effort was overshadowed by two more goals from Pittsburgh's side. The Pens capitalized on their powerplay opportunities with Anthony Mantha contributing significantly with his offensive prowess.
