As tensions rose in the third period, Tampa Bay made a concerted effort to level up by scoring twice more. However, Carolina's defense held firm under pressure with Brandon Bussi making key saves that thwarted further advances from the Bolts. Despite Tampa Bay’s efforts and increased shot attempts totaling 28 for them throughout the game compared to Carolina’s 33 shots, it was not enough to overcome their deficit.
