The game began without much fanfare for the home team as they ended the first period scoreless while the Coyotes managed to slip one past Chicago's defense. However, as play resumed in the second period, Chicago found their rhythm and netted an impressive four goals. The third period saw continued dominance by the Blackhawks as they added three more to their tally.

Chicago's offense was firing on all cylinders throughout this matchup. They outshot Arizona by five shots with a total of 41 attempts on goal and converted those opportunities into seven goals for an impressive shooting percentage of seventeen percent. The powerplay unit was particularly effective for Chicago; they capitalized on two out of five opportunities thanks to their sixty-seven percent faceoff win rate during powerplays.

On defense and special teams, Chicago also held strong. Their penalty kill units did not allow any goals despite being shorthanded three times and maintained a seventy-five percent faceoff win rate while down a player. Goaltending played its part too; Chicago's netminder saved thirty-two out of thirty-six shots for an even strength save percentage rounding up to one hundred percent.

The Coyotes put up resistance but were ultimately unable to match the intensity brought by their opponents. Despite scoring four even-strength goals from thirty-one shots and winning forty-three percent of faceoffs overall, it wasn't enough to overcome Chicago's surge in offense or staunch defensive play.
