As the Chicago Blackhawks prepare to host the San Jose Sharks at the United Center, fans can anticipate an intense matchup. The Blackhawks have had a mixed bag of results in their recent games, showcasing both their strengths and areas needing improvement.

In their last outing against the Coyotes, the Blackhawks demonstrated a powerful offensive performance with a 16 percent shooting percentage and capitalized on powerplays by scoring four goals out of five opportunities. Their faceoff win percentage was just above half at 51 percent, indicating decent control over puck possession. However, they also exhibited some defensive vulnerabilities as reflected in their minus-five plus-minus rating.

The game prior to that saw them shut out by the Avalanche with no goals scored despite having 37 shots on goal. This highlighted an area for concern in converting shot opportunities into points. Their faceoff win percentage dipped slightly below half at 48 percent.

Against the Blue Jackets, however, Chicago's performance was more balanced but still resulted in a loss. They managed to score two goals from 28 shots and won just over half of their faceoffs at 53 percent but ended up with a minus-sixteen plus-minus rating.

Looking ahead to facing off against San Jose Sharks, it's crucial for Chicago to tighten up defensively while maintaining their offensive pressure from powerplays and even-strength situations. The team will need to improve puck possession during faceoffs and convert more shots into goals if they are going to come out on top.

The upcoming game is scheduled for March 17th at United Center in Chicago; fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+ or NBCS-CHI networks starting from 5:00 PM Central Time (CT).
