The Blackhawks entered the game looking to improve their standing but found themselves outpaced by a relentless Kings offense. Despite putting up 24 shots on goal and blocking an impressive 22 attempts from the Kings, the Blackhawks were unable to convert their efforts into enough goals to secure a win. The team's powerplay unit managed to capitalize once during their four opportunities, thanks in part to a brief advantage at 5v3 that led to one of their two goals for the night.

On defense, Chicago struggled as they gave up six goals on an equal number of shots faced. Their goaltender made 18 saves throughout the game but was ultimately credited with the loss as he could not withstand the barrage from Los Angeles' attackers. The Blackhawks also had difficulty in faceoff circles, winning only 41 percent of draws which contributed to less control over the puck during play.

The Kings demonstrated superior shooting accuracy with a shooting percentage of 25 percent compared to Chicago's eight percent. They also excelled at faceoffs with a winning percentage of 59 percent and capitalized on one out of their single powerplay chance which proved crucial in building momentum.

Los Angeles' special teams played efficiently; while they only had one powerplay opportunity compared to Chicago's four, they made it count by scoring once. Additionally, when shorthanded five times due to penalties totaling eight minutes, they successfully defended all but one attempt by Chicago's powerplay unit.
