At Scotiabank Saddledome, the Colorado Avalanche showcased their resilience against a formidable Calgary Flames squad. The Avalanche scored once in the first period and added two more goals in the third, but it wasn't enough to overcome their opponents. Despite being shorthanded, they managed to net three goals on 25 shots with an overall shooting percentage of 12 percent. Their powerplay unit contributed one goal from three shots and recorded two assists during their four opportunities.

The offensive effort was supported by eight points from various players including five assists. However, faceoffs proved challenging for Colorado as they won only 27 out of 65 attempts, resulting in a faceoff win percentage of approximately 42 percent. The team's defense blocked ten shots and delivered seventeen hits throughout the game.

On special teams, while Colorado capitalized on one powerplay opportunity with a success rate over fifty-five percent for faceoffs during these situations, they struggled when down a player. The penalty kill allowed two goals from three shots by Calgary's powerplay unit.

The goaltending performance for Colorado showed twenty-two saves against twenty-seven shots faced but ultimately credited with a loss as five pucks found their way into their net.

Turning attention to the home team, Calgary demonstrated strong play across all areas. They matched up well in hits and takeaways and excelled on special teams where they converted two out of five powerplays into goals while also scoring shorthanded once. Their faceoff prowess was evident with over fifty-eight percent wins which helped them maintain control throughout much of the game.

Calgary's offense was slightly more efficient than that of Colorado’s; scoring five times from twenty-seven attempts gave them an eighteen percent shooting accuracy rate which included contributions across twelve points made by various players.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought battle at Scotiabank Saddledome, fans can catch the next action-packed game featuring Colorado Avalanche as they visit Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on October 17th at 7:00 PM Central Time (CT). This encounter will be available to watch nationally on ESPN+ or locally via ALT channel six hundred eighty-one or BSN channels six hundred sixty-eight and six hundred sixty-nine.
