From the initial puck drop at United Center, the Avalanche displayed an overwhelming presence on the ice. The team's scoring began modestly in the first period with a single goal but escalated quickly as they hammered in three more during the second period. The final period saw one additional goal from Colorado to seal their victory.

Colorado's offensive efforts were matched by their impenetrable defense and goaltending. With a total of 34 shots taken by Colorado and 24 saves made by their goaltender, it was clear that Chicago struggled to find any cracks in this formidable wall. Notably, all five goals scored by Colorado were attributed to different players showcasing a well-rounded attack.

Special teams also played a crucial role for Colorado; they capitalized on their lone powerplay opportunity which lasted just under two minutes and resulted in one goal from four shots taken during this advantage. Conversely, Chicago failed to convert on their single powerplay chance despite having control over faceoffs throughout most of the game.

Colorado's defensive statistics further illustrate their dominance: they blocked ten shots and only allowed four giveaways compared to twelve from Chicago. Additionally, while both teams had eighteen hits each showing equal physicality, it was clear that Colorado's execution on both ends of the ice was superior.
