The Avalanche's performance was marked by resilience as they rallied from an early deficit. The Canucks had taken control in the first period, notching two goals to set a challenging pace. However, Colorado's determination shone through as they managed to find the back of the net once in the second period and twice more during regulation time to force overtime.

Colorado's powerplay unit proved crucial, converting two out of four opportunities into goals.
