Avalanche and Blue Jackets Set for Strategic Skirmish in Columbus

As the Colorado Avalanche gear up to face the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena, fans are anticipating a game that could very well hinge on special teams play and goaltending prowess. The Avalanche's recent performance against the St. Louis Blues on March 20th showcased their ability to maintain composure and secure a win with a final score of 4-3, despite being out-hit and losing the faceoff battle.

The Avalanche's powerplay unit, which capitalized once during three opportunities against the Blues, will be crucial in overcoming the Blue Jackets' defense. With an 11 percent shooting accuracy from their last game, converting chances into goals will be key for Colorado. Their goaltending also seems promising; saving all but three of the shots faced indicates that they can rely on their netminder to keep them in contention when under pressure.

On the other hand, Columbus cannot be underestimated. Their home advantage at Nationwide Arena might provide them with an extra boost of confidence. However, considering their performance against other teams recently does not paint an overly threatening picture for Colorado.

The Avalanche have shown resilience in tight situations as evidenced by their overtime victory over Edmonton Oilers on March 17th where they emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3-2 after regulation time ended tied. This resilience could prove vital if this upcoming game goes down to the wire.

Colorado's even-strength play has been solid as well; scoring three goals during regular play against both St. Louis and Vancouver Canucks suggests that they can hold their own without relying solely on powerplays or shorthanded situations.

However, one area where Colorado must improve is faceoffs – winning only 48 percent against St. Louis and even less in previous games is something they'll need to address before facing off with Columbus who may capitalize on any such weakness.

In conclusion, while it’s expected that both teams will bring their A-game come April 1st at Nationwide Arena, it appears that if Colorado can sharpen up their faceoff tactics and continue capitalizing on powerplay opportunities while maintaining solid goaltending as seen in recent matches – there’s every reason for fans to believe an Avalanche victory is within reach.

Fans eager to catch this strategic skirmish between two determined NHL squads can tune into ESPN+ online or watch via ALT or BSOH networks at 7:00 PM ET on April 1st when these two teams take center stage at Nationwide Arena.
