The game started off as a defensive battle with neither team able to break through in the first period. However, the second period saw the home team take control as they put three goals past the Avalanche goaltender. The Colorado team struggled to find an answer to the Blue Jackets' offensive push and ended up conceding another goal in the third period before finally getting on the board themselves.

The lone goal for Colorado came during even strength play in which they managed to outshoot Columbus by a significant margin with 46 shots on goal compared to their opponent's 25. However, despite this advantage in shots and maintaining a faceoff win percentage of 56 percent throughout all periods, they were unable to capitalize on four powerplay opportunities.

Colorado's goaltender faced 24 shots and made 21 saves but allowed three goals before an empty netter sealed their fate late in the game. On defense, they blocked an impressive number of shots at even strength but ended up with a minus-sixteen plus-minus rating overall.

On offense for Colorado, two players contributed assists while one player scored their only goal during even strength play. Their shooting percentage was low at two percent despite numerous attempts at finding the back of Columbus' net.

In contrast, Columbus showcased efficient scoring converting four goals from just twenty-five shots for an impressive sixteen percent shooting accuracy. They also capitalized on turnovers with six takeaways and delivered nineteen hits over sixty minutes of playtime.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on enemy ice, fans can catch Colorado Avalanche next when they visit Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on April 5th at 7:00 PM CT. This upcoming match will be available for viewing across various networks including ESPN+ online and ALT TV network among others.
