Will the Colorado Avalanche Overpower the Edmonton Oilers in Upcoming Denver Showdown?

As the Colorado Avalanche prepare to host the Edmonton Oilers at Ball Arena, fans are eager to see if their team can maintain their recent momentum. The Avalanche have shown a mix of results in their past games, but one thing remains consistent: they're a force on home ice.

In their last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, despite an impressive 46 shots on goal and winning 56 percent of faceoffs, they fell short with a final score that reflected a tough loss. However, this setback was preceded by a dominant performance at Ball Arena against the Nashville Predators where they secured an emphatic victory with seven goals and winning 52 percent of faceoffs.

The team's powerplay has been particularly effective as evidenced by scoring three goals during opportunities against Nashville. This special teams' prowess could be pivotal in overcoming the Oilers' challenge. On even strength though, there is room for improvement as seen in both games where they had more shots than goals scored.

Goaltending remains solid with save percentages reflecting strong performances between the pipes. The defense will need to continue blocking shots effectively while reducing giveaways which have been relatively low compared to opponents.

For fans attending or tuning in from home, expect an intense matchup where special teams could tip the scales and goaltending may just be the deciding factor. With recent trends showing high shot volumes and strong faceoff performances, it's clear that Colorado is looking to assert dominance early and often.

The upcoming game is scheduled for April 18th at Ball Arena in Denver; puck drop is set for 7:30 PM local time (MDT). Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN as both teams vie for victory on this highly anticipated night of hockey competition.
