From the opening puck drop at Xcel Energy Center, the Avalanche set an aggressive tone. The team's first-period performance was particularly notable as they netted two goals to establish an early lead. The second period saw them add another goal to their tally, while in the third period they secured their victory with two additional goals.


The Colorado team's powerplay unit made significant contributions by capitalizing on one of their two opportunities. This powerplay goal was crucial in maintaining momentum and keeping pressure on the Wild throughout the contest. On offense, every line contributed to a balanced attack that resulted in twelve points from five goals and seven assists combined among players. Their shooting accuracy stood out with a fourteen percent success rate from thirty-six shots taken.

The Wild managed to put up resistance despite being outplayed overall; they scored once during even strength play and once on their powerplay across four chances given to them by penalties conceded by Colorado.
