The Avalanche's offense was firing on all cylinders from the get-go. They opened the scoring in the first period and didn't look back. By the end of the second period, they had amassed an impressive four-goal lead. The team's shooting accuracy was remarkable throughout the game, with a shooting percentage of 14 percent compared to just four percent by their opponents.

Colorado's powerplay unit proved particularly effective, converting two out of four opportunities into goals. These critical powerplay goals were supported by four assists during man-advantage situations. Conversely, despite having equal powerplay chances, Winnipeg failed to capitalize on any of them.

Defensively, Colorado also stood tall against Winnipeg's advances. The goaltending for Colorado was nearly flawless; saving 26 out of 27 shots for an impeccable save percentage rounding up to one hundred percent. This defensive prowess extended beyond just goaltending; they blocked nineteen shots and took away possession nine times from Winnipeg.

Winnipeg did manage to find some positives despite being overwhelmed by Colorado's performance. They matched Colorado in faceoffs won and delivered thirty hits throughout the game – showing that they were not shy about physical play.
