Game Highlights


The match at SAP Center at San Jose saw the Avalanche take an early lead with two goals in the first period, setting a strong pace against the Sharks. Despite not scoring in the second period, they sealed their victory with another two goals in the third. The Sharks managed only one goal early on and couldn't break through Colorado's defense for more.


Ross Colton emerged as a key player for Colorado, netting two crucial goals that significantly contributed to his team's win. Cale Makar also had an outstanding game; besides scoring once, he assisted on two other occasions. His performance was instrumental on both ends of the ice.

On defense, Justus Annunen was nearly impenetrable between the pipes for Colorado, saving 25 out of 26 shots faced from San Jose. This included seven shorthanded saves that kept San Jose's power play opportunities fruitless.


Player Performances


Makar wasn't just about offense; his defensive plays were just as critical to stifling any momentum from San Jose. He logged over 25 minutes on ice and was involved in key plays that halted Sharks' advances.

Joel Kiviranta and Nathan MacKinnon also made significant contributions to their team's success. Kiviranta scored once off his lone shot attempt while MacKinnon facilitated plays leading to scores with two assists during his time on ice.


For San Jose, William Eklund stood out despite the loss by being directly involved in their only goal of the night which came during a power play opportunity.
