Game Highlights

The match held at Prudential Center in Newark witnessed an outstanding performance by the Colorado Avalanche. The team's even-strength gameplay was particularly notable, with all four goals scored during even play. The Avalanche's goaltender, Scott Wedgewood, emerged as a star player with an impeccable save percentage of 100 percent by stopping all 25 shots faced from the Devils. This shutout performance was crucial for Colorado’s victory.

Ross Colton and Artturi Lehkonen were among those who found the back of the net for Colorado, contributing to their team's tally with one goal each. Their efforts on ice were complemented by Calvin de Haan and Casey Mittelstadt who each added two assists to their names, showcasing a well-rounded offensive strategy from Colorado.

On defense, aside from Wedgewood’s stellar goaltending, Colorado also excelled in blocking shots and limiting New Jersey’s scoring opportunities. They blocked a total of 19 shots and had only three penalties throughout the game which minimized powerplay opportunities for New Jersey.

Looking at New Jersey

Despite their efforts and having equal faceoff wins at 54 each with Colorado, The Devils could not capitalize on any scoring opportunity presented to them including three powerplay chances. Their shooting accuracy fell short as they ended up with zero goals out of 25 shots on goal.

New Jersey’s goalie faced challenges against Colorado’s offense but managed to save 19 out of 22 even-strength shots before an empty-netter brought their total goals against to four. This loss highlighted areas for improvement for The Devils as they aim to bounce back in future games.
