Despite outshooting their opponents with 38 shots throughout the game, they couldn't break through in this initial segment.

Second Period

In a spirited comeback attempt during the second period, Colorado managed to score twice. Third Period

The final period saw both teams adding one goal each to their tally. The Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon was instrumental in setting up plays but couldn't convert them into additional points for his team. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Blackwood made several crucial saves throughout all periods but faced relentless pressure from New York’s forwards like Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee who were pivotal in securing victory for Isles.

Despite a valiant effort by Colorado’s players including notable performances from Victor Olofsson and Devon Toews on defense, it wasn't enough against an efficient Islander attack that capitalized on key moments leading them towards victory.
