First Period

The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses but failing to find the back of the net. The Avalanche managed to keep up their defensive intensity, blocking several attempts from Utah and maintaining pressure on their opponents.

Second Period

In the second period, Samuel Girard broke through for the Avs with a crucial goal that would ultimately decide the game. His precise shot was assisted by strong puck movement and positioning from his teammates. The Mammoth struggled to respond offensively despite having multiple powerplay opportunities.

Third Period

As both teams entered the final period, it was clear that defense would be key for Colorado. Scott Wedgewood stood out in goal for the Avs, making all 32 saves and earning himself recognition as one of the game's stars. Despite Utah's efforts to equalize, they were unable to penetrate Wedgewood's solid goaltending.

The game ended with no additional goals scored in this period or any overtime drama needed. In post-game interviews, players from both sides acknowledged Colorado's defensive prowess as a significant factor in their victory.
