First Period

The opening period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle. Despite having more shots on goal, the Avs couldn't find their way past Lukas Dostal, who was stellar between the pipes for Anaheim. Colorado's defense also held firm, with Scott Wedgewood making crucial saves to keep the game scoreless.

Second Period

In the second period, it was Anaheim that broke through first. Cutter Gauthier capitalized on an opportunity to put his team ahead. The Burgundy and Blue responded by increasing their offensive pressure but were unable to convert any of their chances into goals during this segment.

Third Period

The third period saw Colorado finally break through when Artturi Lehkonen found the back of the net with an assist from Brock Nelson and Brent Burns. This equalizer set up an intense finish as both teams battled hard but remained deadlocked at 1-1 by regulation's end.

Overtime and Shootout

Overtime failed to produce a winner despite some close calls from both sides. In the shootout phase, however, it was Anaheim that emerged victorious thanks to two successful attempts while shutting out all efforts from Colorado shooters.

Despite this setback for Colorado Avalanche post-match stats reveal they dominated possession and had more shots on goal throughout regular play but couldn't capitalize when it mattered most during shootouts—a key takeaway for future encounters.
