First Period

The game commenced with an explosive start from the Habs, who netted three goals in quick succession. The Avs managed to respond with one goal during this period, showcasing their resilience. Brock Nelson was instrumental for Colorado, scoring his team's first goal and keeping them within reach of their opponents.

Second Period

In the second period, both teams continued to battle fiercely on ice. The Avs added another goal to their tally thanks to Joel Kiviranta's precise shot that found its way past Montreal's goaltender Jakub Dobes. However, Montreal maintained their lead by adding two more goals of their own.

Third Period

As the final period unfolded, Ross Colton scored for Colorado but it wasn't enough to close the gap as Nick Suzuki led Montreal’s charge with his exceptional playmaking abilities. The Habs sealed their victory by scoring two additional goals before time ran out.

Despite Scott Wedgewood's efforts between the pipes for Colorado—recording 21 saves—the defensive struggles were evident as they allowed seven goals overall. Meanwhile, Cale Makar contributed defensively but couldn't turn things around for his team.
