Clash at SAP Center: Columbus Blue Jackets Take On San Jose Sharks

As the Columbus Blue Jackets gear up to face the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center at San Jose, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from recent setbacks. The Blue Jackets have had a turbulent run in their past few games, and this upcoming match is crucial for them to regain momentum.

In their last game on March 12 against the St. Louis Blues, CBJ displayed a strong faceoff game with a win percentage of 65 percent but fell short in other areas. Despite taking more shots than the Blues with 39 attempts, they only managed to convert 5 percent into goals. This inefficiency in scoring was compounded by their goaltending struggles; they saved only 79 percent of shots compared to the Blues' impressive 95 percent.

The game before that on March 8 against the Pittsburgh Penguins saw CBJ put up a better fight offensively, netting four goals from just 27 shots for a shooting percentage of nearly 15 percent. However, defensive lapses allowed five goals against them on just as many opportunities for Pittsburgh.

Looking further back to March 5 versus Ottawa Senators, it's clear that CBJ's defense has been consistently under pressure. They allowed five goals once again and were outperformed in both hits and takeaways by Ottawa.

However, there are positives that CBJ can draw upon as they prepare for San Jose. Their powerplay performance has shown promise; scoring one goal from three opportunities against St. Louis and converting one out of two chances versus Ottawa shows an area where they could capitalize against the Sharks.

The key for CBJ will be tightening up defensively while maintaining strong faceoff play and capitalizing on powerplay opportunities. The Sharks will not make it easy – playing at home gives them an edge and they'll be looking to exploit any weaknesses shown by Columbus in recent outings.

Fans should expect an intense battle where every shift counts and special teams could very well make or break the outcome of this encounter between these two NHL franchises.

The showdown is scheduled for March 14th at SAP Center at San Jose starting at 7:30 PM local time (10:30 PM Eastern Time). Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+ nationally or tune into NBCS-CA channel number 698 if they're rooting for San Jose or BSOH channel number 660 for those supporting Columbus Blue Jackets.
